British Pattern 1895 Socket Bayonet designed to fit the .303" caliber Martini-Enfield Rifle. Manufactured between 1895 and 1906. 25 inches long overall. 22 inch blade. Muzzle is approximately 0.70" in diameter (internal). Blade face etched with a broad arrow over "WD" (British War Department stamp) /unique inspector's stamp (crown over "A6" over "E") /" '96 "/ original acceptance date of "10/??" (year is illegible). A few different issue numbers are also visible. Another blade face etched with a crown over "BR" over "26" and "BR" over "45". 22 inch leather scabbard with brass throat and drag. Scabbard etched with broad arrow over "WD" (British War Dept.) over crown over "E" over "7". Also, the scabbard is etched "12/82" on the leather. The "sight-bridge" is at a 90 degrees angle to the blade (which is unique to Pattern 1895).
